Terms of Use

Effective 26 October 2026 · Published by squadoverlay.com · Contact openstability@outlook.com

These terms apply to the Squad Overlay app for Windows and the relay servers it connects to (together, "the service"), provided by squadoverlay.com ("we", "us"). By installing or using the service you agree to these terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.

1. Who can use the service

You must be at least 13 years old, and old enough to agree to these terms where you live. If you are under the age of majority, a parent or guardian must agree to them on your behalf.

2. Your license and price

The app is free to download from the Microsoft Store. Creating and joining lobbies requires a Squad Overlay subscription, sold through the Microsoft Store as a monthly plan (USD 4.99 a month, with a one-month free trial for new subscribers), a 6-month plan (USD 24.99) or a 12-month plan (USD 44.99), or the local equivalents set by the Store. A subscription renews automatically at the end of each period until you cancel it in your Microsoft account; when you cancel, you keep access until the end of the period you have paid for. Microsoft handles billing, renewals and refunds under its own terms.

If you acquired the app while it was sold as a one-time purchase of USD 9.99 (before 26 October 2026), and not as a free trial, you keep full access without a subscription.

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the app on Windows devices you own or control, in line with these terms and, for copies from the Microsoft Store, Microsoft's Store terms. You may not resell the service, reverse engineer it except where the law allows, or attempt to disrupt, overload or gain unauthorized access to our relay servers.

3. What you share

Screenshots and nicknames you share are your content. You keep ownership of them. You give us only the limited permission needed to carry your content to the members of your lobby. We do not store screenshots after delivery and do not use them for any other purpose.

You are responsible for what you share. Only share screenshots you have the right to share, and remember that anyone in your lobby can see and keep what you send.

4. Rules of conduct

You must not use the service to share, or to encourage others to share:

Nicknames must follow the same rules. Do not impersonate others. Do not use the service in a way that breaks the rules of a game or platform you use it with; you are responsible for checking those rules.

5. Blocking, removing and reporting

We review reports, normally within 7 days, and sooner for reports involving the safety of children or threats of violence. Because we do not store screenshots, the information in your report is often what we rely on. We may take the steps available to us against anyone who breaks these terms, such as blocking their access to the service where we are able to, and we report apparent child sexual exploitation to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and to law enforcement where required. If there is an immediate danger to anyone, contact your local emergency services first.

6. Games and other software

Squad Overlay is an independent app. It is not made, endorsed or approved by any game publisher or anti-cheat provider. It does not inject into, modify or read the memory of games. Compatibility with any particular game or anti-cheat system is not guaranteed.

7. Availability and changes

The app needs our relay servers to share screenshots. We work to keep them running, but we may change, suspend or stop any part of the service, and we do not guarantee that it will always be available. If we ever shut the service down for good, we will say so on this page in advance. We may update these terms; if a change is significant we will say so on this page and in the app's release notes. Continuing to use the service after a change means you accept the updated terms.

8. Ending your use

You can stop using the service at any time by uninstalling the app. We may suspend or end your access if you break these terms or if we have to by law.

9. No warranty

The service is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We do not promise that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every screenshot will be delivered.

10. Limitation of liability

To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for loss of data, profits or goodwill, arising from your use of the service or content shared by other users. Our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to USD 10. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited under the law that applies to you, and you keep any rights you have as a consumer.

11. Microsoft

If you got the app from the Microsoft Store, these terms are between you and squadoverlay.com, not Microsoft. Microsoft is not responsible for the app or its content.
